Kat's 22nd Birthday

Today is Kat's 22nd birthday. As she is on leave, she decided to have her hair cut & coloured by my stylist at The Hair Spa & Salon. I fixed an appointment for her at 1pm. Thus we decided to meet for lunch 1st at Sakae Sushi, Wheelock Place.

After lunch, I brought Kat to my stylist there. After that, I brought Daryl to Forum Galleria while waiting for Kat to finish her haircut. When we were there, we went to VitaKids where I bought 2 boxes of biscuits for Daryl. Since we got a lot of time to while away, I brought Daryl to Toys R Us. Over there, Daryl is in toys heaven coz there are so many toys there. He spent like 1.5 hours playing there.

Daryl decided to get up after a while coz he got bored. I am not surprised as the toy is meant for 6 months & above. The best thing is, he put the toy back onto the shelf instead of leaving it onto the floor. He's such a good boy! :p

After spending 1.5 hours there, I decided to leave Toys R Us as I estimated that Kat's haircut should be about done already.

At the exit, we passed by the Les Enphants boutique. Daryl saw a pair of Disney sandals with Pooh Bear on it. He picked up the sandals & give it to me. I asked him whether he likes the sandals or not & he make some noise, thus I presumed that he said yes. I asked the sales assistant for a pair in his size so that he can try it on. When he tried it on, he was so happy that he walked around the whole boutique in his new shoes. Seeing the happy look on his face, I decided to buy it. As there are 3 colours available - blue & yellow, dark & light blue & brown, I asked Daryl to choose the one which he likes. He choose the brown coloured pair. I paid for the sandals & left the boutique.

On the way back to the salon, Kat smsed me to let me know that she's about done already. We met outside the salon & we went to NYDC Cafe at Wheelock Place for tea. When we reached the cafe, we found Daryl snoozing in his pram. Poor boy, think he must have been tired out already. I inclined the pram so that Daryl can sleep more comfortably. Kat & I had a very nice afternoon tea. Halfway through our tea, Daryl woke up & fed some of the newly bought biscuits to him.

After tea, I asked Kat to choose her birthday cake which I'll buy for her. She chose the Boo Boo cake as her birthday cake. My sis got expensive tastes... I paid for the tea & cake & we went back to my mum's place.

As my mum didn't cook, Kat & I went out to the nearby coffeeshop to buy dinner back. It was a very sumptuous dinner, we had oatmeal prawns, prawn paste chicken, veggies with fish slices, etc. After dinner, we sang Kat the birthday song, she made her wish / wishes & she cut the cake.

We left my mum's place at about 9pm as Daryl is fussing. He was so tired that he fell asleep once we were in the car.

Lazy Daryl (Part II)

Remember my last post about Dary lying on our bed instead of sitting down to watch Sesame Street? I caught him doing that again today. This time, he was lying on his tummy. He looked so cute that I couldn't resist taking some pics.

Mum Mum

My boy is turning into a MacDonald kid!! Why do I say that? Coz he said ''mum mum" when he saw the MacDonald advertisement!! *faint*

It happened at night when I was in the bathroom cleansing my face while Kel was looking after him. The 2 of them were on the bed watching TV when the MacDonald advertisement came on. It was the latest 1 about the CNY prosperity burger. When Daryl saw the advertisement, he pointed at the TV & said very loudly, "mum mum". I poked my head out of the bathroom & asked Kel whether I heard him correctly or not. Kel's answer, "Ya lah... your son is becoming a MacDonald kid already!!" The both of us cracked up in laughter.

The verdict - I am banned from bringing Daryl to MacDonald again. But then again, Kel didn't say anything about home delivery... Hehehe...

New Clothes

I gave up trying to buy Daryl's new CNY clothes at the stores. He is too big for baby clothes but too small for toddler clothes.

We frequent Fox Baby for his clothes as the designs are funky & they are reasonably priced. In addition, the materials are not too bad also. However, as Daryl is already wearing Size 2 for his clothes now, we need to upgrade him to Size 3 which is under Fox Kids. To our disappointment, not much Size 3 clothes are left as there is a sale going on currently. As for the new arrivals, the designs are not that nice & they are more expensive. :(

In the end, I resorted to buying Daryl's clothes online. I found this website - Little Tots Closet through SingaporeMotherhood, a website which I frequent. Buying online is so easy. I just choose the clothes, email the seller, transfer the $$ to her & voila, I got the clothes by mail. No wonder people say that online shopping is addictive.

The packages arrived this afternoon. I was so excited that I opened up the packages straight away. I was very impressed with the quality of the clothes. They were very good & the prices are very reasonable. My total damage for the above clothes - S$136.90. Isn't that cheap?

Now that I have settled Daryl's CNY clothes, all I need to complete his wardrobe is new shoes. That... is another headache...

Lunch at MacDonalds

I went out for an appointment in the morning. When I was leaving the house, Daryl was clambouring to be carried as he knows that I am going out. I carried him & he started to wave bye bye to my father-in-law!! He thinks that he's also going out with me. Then I told him that I am not going shopping, I am going to work & passed him back to Asty after giving him a big kiss. Once I did that, he started to cry very loudly. He stretched out his hands & wants me to carry him. I left the house quickly before he could struggled out of Asty's arms. On my way down, I could still hear him crying. Poor Daryl...

After my appointment, I called Kel to check whether I should buy lunch back. However, Kel told me that he is not eating as he is rushing out for his appointment. My father in law is also not eating as he wants to have bread for lunch. Thus I decided to take Daryl & Asty out for a nice lunch at MacDonalds.

At MacDonalds, I ordered a MacNuggets meal to share with him. His favourite food is the french fries. Once he tasted it, he refused to eat the nuggets. I had to finish all of them. Luckily I only ordered the 6 pieces nuggets meal. When he saw me drinking my iced lemon tea, he also wanted to try.































































After lunch, we went home as I had to rush some quotations. What a nice lunch!! I hope that I can do this more often with Daryl.

Playing with Coke Lite & Tiger Beer

I am constantly amazed by how innovative kids are. Mundane stuff such as cans can be such a great source of enjoyment to them.

I went to the kitchen for a drink of water when I spied this...

















































Daryl was sitting in the kitchen taking my Coke Lite & Kel's Tiger beer cans out of the carton boxes & placing them in front of my fridge & stacking them up.

According to Asty, Daryl had been sitting there for the past 1/2 hour playing with the cans while she cooked his lunch.

I am amazed that such a simple thing could bring so much joy to him.

My notti boy really knows how to enjoy life!! Instead of sitting down to watch his Sesame Street, he was lying on our bed to watch the show.

Self Feeding

Daryl has been very difficult to feed lately. He had to be distracted whenever we are feeding him by letting him watch his favourite programs on TV, letting him play with his cutlery, etc.

During lunch just now, Daryl was being very difficult to feed as usual. Asty also can't seem to handle my notti boy. Therefore, I went to take his bowl, fork & spoon to distract him while Asty fed him. However, he refused to open his mouth to eat. Thus, I took his spoon, scooped out some of his rice so that he can feed himself. Surprisingly, this method works! After he fed himself, he would open his mouth to let Asty fed him.

Dinner & Shopping

I brought Daryl & Asty out for dinner today at Parkway Parade. Kel didn't come with us as he had an appointment.

After cracking my head on where should we go for dinner, I decided on Delifrance. It is baby friendly, the food there is nice, prices are reasonable & most importantly, I got vouchers which I can utilized there. :p

I ordered some food for Daryl. However, he doesn't seem to like the food which I had ordered. He seems more interested in our bread.

After dinner, we went shopping at Kiddy Palace for Daryl's stuff. I bought a Pigeon bottle brush as the current one is worn out already. While I was there, I saw these 2 items :

After paying for my purchases, we went to Giant for some grocery shopping. At about 9pm+, I decided to go home as Daryl seems to be tired already. What a nice way to spend my Friday night!! Pity that Kel is not able to join us.

Clever Daryl

Daryl & I woke up at about 10am today. It was quite late by Daryl's standards as he would usually wake up at about 8am. Think he must have tire himself out yesterday when we went to my mum's place.

Kel was in a good mood today, thus he decided to take us out for lunch & do some grocery shopping. When we dressed Daryl, he did something which made the 2 of us laughed. As we need to powder his neck, we would usually use our hand to lift up his head so that we can powdered it. This time, he refused to lift up his head for us as he was occupied in playing with his Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Learning Phone. Thus we had to try another tack.

We'll ask him where is the balloon. Clever Daryl would usually lift up his head to check where is the balloon. This time round, he didn't lift up his head. Instead, he used his left index finger & pointed to the ceiling. He's telling us that the balloon is on top. We cracked up when we saw that. Kel said that our boy is too engrossed in playing with his toy, thus he couldn't be bothered with us.

As we were preparing to go out, Daryl spied Kel's handphone on the bed. He imitated the way we talked on the phone as evident by these pics.

When we saw that, we were laughing so hard. This shows that Daryl had picked up stuff by watching us. Think we must be more careful in our words & actions when we are around him already.

Daryl has grown up

My baobei has really grown up! Today, he did something which brought a few smiles to my face!

I planned to go to my mum's place in the afternoon as Kel will be playing golf with his clients. After I had changed, I sprayed some perfume on myself. After I had done that, I walked to my dressing table to keep my perfume. Daryl, who was watching my every move, opened my dressing table's drawer for me. When I saw that, I stopped & smiled at him. He then gestured for me to put the perfume bottle back into the drawer. I didn't move as I wanted to see what would he do. He walked towards me, pulled my hand & gestured for me to put the perfume bottle back into the drawer. After I had done what he had asked me to, he closed the drawer for me & proceed to pull me out of the room. I followed him out of the room.

He walked to the shoe rack & took out all 3 pairs of his shoes. When I saw that, I could not stopped laughing. I asked him which pair he wanted to wear. He picked the blue colour pair & gestured for me to wear it for him. When Asty saw it, she was laughing also. Then she helped him to wear his shoes while I packed my bag.

At my mum's place, as I was typing this blog entry, Daryl was sitting at the dining table playing with my mum while my sister set the table for dinner. He then took the rice scoop which was on the table, banged it on the table & pointed to the rice cooker while saying the words "mum mum". My mum laughed when she heard that. She called me & said that Daryl must be hungry & he wants to eat dinner already. After hearing that, I went to scoop some rice & vegetables so that Daryl can have his dinner.

The above incidents shows that Daryl is capable of verbalising his thoughts already. It also shows that my baobei is growing up already.

After Nap Time

Daryl did something really cute this afternoon after his nap time. Usually when my sticky boy wakes up from his nap time, he'll cry coz there's no one in the room. When we hear his cries, we would rush into the room to carry him. However, today is an exception!!

When he woke up from his nap, he actually went to open our bedroom door & walked out of the room to find us. We would leave our bedroom door open so that we can hear him if he cries.

Kel was having his lunch at the dining table while I was watching CSI in the living room. Kel saw him 1st, walking out of the room, looking sleepy & rubbing his eyes. Kel called his name & told him what a clever boy he is. When I heard that, I turned around & called his name. Daryl heard my voice & groggily turned in my direction & walked towards me. Kel was sooooo jealous. I gave Daryl a hug, told him what a good boy he is & carried him.

I hope that Daryl will do it more often. This is much better than us running to the room everytime he woke up. :P

Gastric Flu

Daryl had been pooing at least 4 times for the past 2 days & it's usually after he had drank his milk or eat his meals. We got worried & decided to bring him to see Dr Chua.

When we went inside Dr Chua's room, Daryl cried on seeing him. This shows that he still remembered what had happened during his last visit. :p I described Daryl's symptons to Dr Chua. He diagnosed that Daryl is suffering from gastric flu. He said that it's quite common these days, thus young children like Daryl will probaby get it coz their immune system is not strong enough to counter it. He gave Daryl some medicine to stop his diahorrea & told us to stop giving him solid food for the day. In addition, we had to dilute his milk feed also. Poor Daryl...

I hope that he'll get well soon as it pains me to see him being sick.

Daryl is Sick Again

My poor baobei is running a fever again!! This time, I have no idea what causes this fever.

In the afternoon, I was working in the study room. As I was feeling restless, I went out to the living room to check on Daryl who was taking his afternoon nap on the sofa. When I came out of the room, Asty pointed in the direction of the sofa & asked me to take a look. I took a peep & saw Daryl lying on the sofa with his eyes wide open, not making any noise. When he saw me, he smiled at me. Then he flipped over & got up.

It was then I noticed that his cheeks were redder than usual. Thus, I went to touch his forehead. As it was a bit hot. I went to take a thermometer to measure his temperature. It was 38.9 degrees celsius! I went to take the cooling adhesive & put on his forehead. In addition, I also feed him paracetamol.

In the evening, his temperature had went down to 37.8. Let's hope that it will go down further as the night progresses.

Christmas Day

Christmas is finally here! Daryl, or rather me, can finally open his presents. :p

This year, he is a very lucky boy! His loot includes :
